Blasts from the past – Resources on serving business accounts

first_img continue reading » ShareShareSharePrintMailGooglePinterestDiggRedditStumbleuponDeliciousBufferTumblr Some credit unions historically have not served businesses, but may revisit that decision from time to time. For credit unions that may be considering how to help businesses in their communities, here is a round up of past blogs and other NAFCU resources on this topic as well as a few other things to consider.Field of Membership Field of membership requirements can be one initial issue.  For FCUs, a business or other organization can become a member three key ways depending on the credit union’s charter: (1) it is located in a community charter FCU’s area; (2) it is specifically named in the FCU’s charter as a member; or (3) it is an “organization of” persons who are within the FCU’s field of membership. This Compliance Blog post provides a refresher on how these components work. State-chartered credit unions will need to refer to their particular state provisions.  Overall though, credit unions that currently do not serve businesses may need to make changes to their fields of membership in order to begin doing so, especially multiple common bond charters.Applicability of Various Regulations Many of the rules governing accounts or loans specifically apply to consumers and not businesses. That is not always the case though, this past blog post identifies some of the key regulations that may still apply to business accounts, and this other post details lending provisions that can apply for businesses. This post explains when Regulation Z may apply to a business purpose credit card, in the context of liability for unauthorized use. NCUA also has a commercial loan rule, distinguishing between member business loans and commercial loans. In some cases, a credit union would need to develop robust policies and procedures to offer “commercial loans” to members. This past blog post has some details on which loans are commercial loans, although legislation in 2018 removed one kind of loan from the prior statutory definition of MBL.last_img read more

The book “What are Croats like” is a must-read for all current and future tourism workers

first_img“It’s nice to think about becoming an elite destination. But it takes a lot more preconditions for that than the mere desire and steps of individual private investors. Apart from its natural beauty and clear sea, Croatia has not yet created its competitive advantage in order to successfully cope with its Mediterranean competitors. Thus, even a small Montenegro is already taking some of our guests, and experts announce that Albania will only become a tourist discovery. Namely, tourist destinations, in addition to the price policy, do not increase earnings from tourism, they must also work on more creative marketing, innovation and constant creation of diversity in relation to the competition. “- is only a small part of the book” What are the Croats “by Dr.sc. Bože Skoke, which in my opinion is a must-read for all current and future tourism workers.Dr.sc. Božo Skoko, professor at the University of Zagreb and expert on the identity and image of countries, after an extremely successful and sold-out book in the Croatian language entitled “What are Croats like”, and has now published an amended edition in English entitled “Understanding Croatia – A Collection of Essays on Croatian Identity”.It is one of the few editions available to readers around the world through Amazon, which speaks in a popular, interesting, but also critical way about Croatian identity and image in the world. Through a collection of essays on Croatian identity, image, politics, culture, way of life and peculiarities, the book talks about Croats, their history, contributions to the world, the relationship between the homeland and the diaspora, coping in the European Union and mentality.Mandatory reading for all current and future tourism workersRarely has a book thrilled me like this, because it deals with one of the important questions: Who are we Croats, what is the Croatia brand or Made in Croatia and what can we offer to the world. I keep emphasizing how we need to start respecting ourselves, in order for others to respect us as well. We must respect our identity, culture and way of life, history kako and how our authentic story must be our main tourist product. The book is written based on many facts and research, but it is very drinkable, entertaining and educational. What is also extremely important, the book introduces you to the story as if the author is directly conducting an argumentative dialogue with you. Personally, it was very “difficult” for me to read the book and I had to read it one more time, and I will certainly read it a third time, because through constant dialogue, discovery, awareness and questioning from fragment to fragment, it aroused a creative storm in me. thoughts wandered through the prism of the wider picture and its implementation. It was enough to just set up one hypothesis such as: “Do Croats have wine?”, And a couple of reasoned thoughts of the author that a creative storm was happening in my head. But that only speaks to the value of this book because it forces you to think and think critically. You just can’t start reading it and not read it in one breath and one day. From piece to piece it pulls you to read it and you ask yourself: Are we really so blind that we don’t see the significance and potential we have? A banal example, we have a tie, and no one knows that it is the work of Croats. Crazy, isn’t it?Some of the interesting topics you can read about in the book: Croatian mentality, European stereotypes about Croats through history, Complex of small country and small nation, Croats by birth and Croats by choice, 14 lessons that Croatia needs to learn from the Republic of Dubrovnik, Forgotten Croatian greats, How Croats present themselves to Europe and how Europe perceives them , What are the real achievements of Croatian diplomacy, What has Croatia brought to the European Union as a dowry? Why are Danes happy and Croats not? Why do Croats prefer the protector of Ireland to the protector of Croatia? Similarities and differences between Croats and Serbs, Croats as the first Slavic people to accept Christianity, How Pope John Paul II branded Croatia, Innovative and creative Croatia, Croatian sports gene, Do Croats have wine? and others. We have to deal with the brand, and not let it develop by inertia and the worst that happens to us, that someone else develops it and tells our story as it suits him. You know that familiar definition of a brand, how a brand is what people talk about when you leave the hall. It is precisely this story and perception that we must take care of. You don’t have to or you might agree with everything written, but an argumentative discussion is the first foundation for us to develop as a society and as individuals.”If we look at the trends in Europe we can see how serious countries have just made networking of all forms of promotion to create a single brand. Because we will no longer be able to get more and more demanding tourists only through a tourist story, but we must tell a story about our greats, our literature, way of life and culture, so that he gets a complete picture of what Croatia is, to buy Croatian products when he meets him in his shop. , that investors come to invest in our country and the like. It’s that link. “Skoko said recently at a tourist conference.Photo: HNSAnd that is the message for the end, tourism is our great tool and channel to tell a much broader story about Croatia. But, as I said, we must first become aware of ourselves, to start being proud of our identity, because that is the only way we can valorize it. It is important that we manage the image and the brand ourselves. This can certainly not be done by foreigners or foreign labor, or anyone else, if we do not live alone and are not proud of our brand and the way and culture of living in the true sense of the word. We must be proud of the Croatia brand, and the book “What are Croats like” is just the best possible first step towards that. That is why the English edition of the book is extremely important for positioning and raising awareness of the Croatian brand on the global stage. Christmas is approaching, give yourself and others, especially foreigners, this book that you can only be proud to be a Croat when you read it.last_img read more
