Flinders University will hold the second International Conference on Ageing in a Foreign Land in June this year and is calling for papers and posters from those in the industry or academia. The inter-disciplinary conference will explore the theme of ageing in the migrant community and will address areas on ageing and health, service provision, language and cultural identity and issues of Greek and other Culturally and Linguistically Diverse communities in Australia and overseas. They are currently looking for papers on the categories “Positive ageing and culturally appropriate care”, “Families, ageing migrants and care in the community”, “Ageing at 45?”, “Interdisciplinary perspectives on migrant ageing”, “Access to services for ageing migrants”, “Experiences of ageing among the Hellenic Diaspora” and “Community Oriented Cultural Programs or Activities”. Those interested need to submit an abstract of 200 words or less by March 10. The conference itself will run for three days from 28-30 June and will contain parallel sessions and panel discussions. It will be held at Flinders University in Adelaide and will be bookmarked by other public lectures and book launches free of charge. It is an initiative by the Flinders University Modern Greek Section and is hosted by the LOGOS Australian Centre for Hellenic Language and Culture, Flinders Institute for Research in the Humanities and the School of Humanities at Flinders University.
