Why do the clocks go back?

first_imgIt’s the time of year where we once more must anxiously try to recall whether the clocks go back or forward.A useful figure of speech to help remember this is “Spring forward, Fall back”.The clocks are set to go back one hour on October 30th at 2am – and yes, this is “the good one” which means you’ll get an extra hour in bed! New Zealander George Hudson from New Zealand first proposed the idea of daylight saving in 1895, with it being implimented in The German Empire and Austria-Hungary in 1916.
